A blocked nose is a common sympton in pregnancy. It results from an increase in fluid in the mucous membrane linings, which causes swelling and a blockage of the sinuses. If the blocked sinuses become infected, sinusitis may developed. This complaint is indicated by pain at the base of the nose and around the eyes, which worsens if the head is lowered, and stuffiness in the head. Headache and fever may occur in acute cases.
Osteopathy: This can be a remarkably effective treatment for painful sinusitis.
Acupunture: This therapy may help to balance fluis circulation and reduce congestion in the sinuses.
Homeopathy: Constitutional treatment is recommended for chronic sinusitis.
Drink plenty of fluids and eat a lot of garlic and parsley, mixed in with your food.
Homeopathy: Take Silica 6X or Kali bichromicum 6X three times daily for up to a week, stopping when symptoms start to improve. Cosult a homeopath if there is no improvement.
Aromatherapy: Essential oils of eucalyptus, lavender and tea tree. Put 2 drops of each essential oil into a bowl of almost boiling water. Inhale the steam for 10 minutes. (Caution: do not use with homeopathic remedies)
